Hello, and welcome to my world of aviation. I'm Vicky Baker, also known as Ocean's Edge. I'm an aspiring pilot, a licensed airline dispatcher, and a long time aviation enthusiast. My love of airplanes began with the RCAFC in my early teens, and it grew from there.
The picture is a Mooney Bravo GX ... I love this plane. I do. Its my dream to one day own this aircraft, but at $1/2 million US I've got my eye on a couple more realistic dreams in the meantime. Like a Piper Tomahawk.Since the fall of 2000 I've been a professional licensed dispatcher. First with Calm Air International
in Thompson Manitoba. Calm Air flies the Saab 340 B's and ATR's on scheduled routes and Hawker Siddley 748's for freighter and charter work.
Arctic flying presents unique challanges that even for flight planning was an interesting learning experience. I have some pictures from a
fam flight up to Repulse Bay in January of 2004. From Calm Air, I moved to
Newfoundland in the fall of 2006 to dispatch for Provincial Airlines. Provincial flies the Saab
340 A and the Dehavilland Dash 8 on scheduled service, along with Metro, Citation, and King Airs for charter, medivac and offshore survelliance. Newfoundland has presented
its own challanges. For more about dispatching and my professional life in aviation, see my "Working Life" page.
In the summer of 2006 I married another aviation geek. James Baker of Australia.
He spent some 20+ yrs with the AirServices Australia, as a nav-aid technician and teacher.
We spend a lot of time talking about, looking at, and watching aircraft. Including a visit to the Flying
Boat Museum in Foynes, Ireland on our honeymoon. We're looking forward to making the pilgrimage to Reno soon! With a little bit of luck and a lot of work we'll be doing a lot more than watching them in the near future.Hopefully this site will continue to evolve and I'll be bringing you lots more. Including photo galleries as I build them, links to some of the things I post at Airliners.net
